60-year-old Abdulahi Ali, a resident of the Jere community, has had his share of struggles. Raising 12 children in a region torn by conflict and climate change has never been an easy task. But Abdulahi has never lost his will and fighting spirit.
Recently, Abdulahi became one of the beneficiaries of the Cash Voucher Redemption for Farming Inputs project supported by Christoffel Blinden Mission [CBM], funded by the German Government. The idea is to empower vulnerable farmers like Abdulahi with vital farm inputs to help them boost their agricultural productivity.
With his voucher, Abdulahi purchased a water-pumping machine, the most vital input required for farming in the dry season. This simple but crucial tool will enable him to water his crops, thereby providing a steady supply of food for his family and improving the family’s living standards.
“I am very happy,” said Abdulahi. “This water pumping machine will change everything. I will now be able to farm all year-round and feed my children.”
Abdulahi’s is but one example of how this particular project has affected him. By providing the much-needed farming inputs, we are not only restoring agricultural productivity but, more importantly, dignity and hope.
“Before, I couldn’t feed my family properly,” said Abdulahi. “But now, I see a better future ahead of me. My children will be able to have more food on the table, and I can send them to school.”
This is one out of several households that benefited from GREENCODE’s Cash Voucher Redemption for Farming Inputs project in Jere, and Bama communities. This goes to prove how GREENCODE is committed to empowering vulnerable communities at the mercy of conflict.
Abdulahi’s story is but a real testament to the powers of community-driven initiatives. Support local farmers by cultivating resilience, advancing food security, and building a better future for generations to come.
