Green Concern for Development (GREENCODE) was funded by comrade Edem Okon Edem in collaboration with others youths from the area as a youth based NGO in 1997, called Abgremo for Development (Akpabuyo Bakassi Green Movement).

Over the years, the organization has grown and engaged with other Development partners. In 2007 the organization undergone a strategic development and change her name with a mandate to carry out humanitarian service national and internationally. Presently, we are registered with Federal Government of Nigeria through CAC as Green Concern for Development (GREENCODE).


VALUES: Transparency, Members/staff integrity, Mutual trust, Accountability and Commitment


Transparency: That the organisation shall be transparent in all its dealings with partners, staff, members and target beneficiaries.

Members/staff integrity: The integrity of GREENCODE’s staff shall be upheld and respected irrespective of age, religion and culture etc.

Mutual trust: Staff, volunteers, members and partners shall have the respect for each other.


Accountability: Board, staff, members and volunteers shall be accountable to its partners and the society at large.


Commitment: Staff, members and volunteers shall be committed towards the achievement of the organisation’s vision, mission and objectives.  


VISION: We envisage rural communities in Nigeria that are environmental conscious, where poverty is eradicated and social rights upheld.


MISSION: To work for promotion of environmental on human rights protection in and around the coastal communities of Niger Delta, aimed at poverty alleviation through education, information sharing, research and direct intervention actions.


TARGET GROUPS: Women, Youths, Children, Policy makers, PLWH, Physically Challenged Persons.


ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE/MANAGEMENT: The management and administration of GREENCODE is guided by a constitution and other administrative policies.
